Bicycle

The invention of the bicycles used today dates back to the 1860’s, but more rudimentary examples can be seen even in the year 1790. For nearly two centuries, millions of people have been using this vehicle as a transport. Currently, the highest record is in the Netherlands, where 23 million bicycles are used despite a population of 17 million.

This vehicle, which is usually two-wheeled, serves as a transport that keeps us healthy and causes no environmental pollution. Cycling between two and four hours a week is recommended for the fitness of our bodies.

We use a significant amount of muscles while cycling. Riding a bike contributes to keeping our metabolic activities in balance, increases our concentration time and sometimes saves us time. It helps our heart, veins and lungs to function properly. The deep breaths we take while cycling ensure that the oxygen saturation in our blood remains at an appropriate level, making us healthy and fit.

In cases where we feel tired, a short, brisk bike ride can help relieve fatigue. Good news for those who suffer from insomnia! According to a study conducted at Stanford University, regular cycling can help people with insomnia fall asleep 30-60 minutes faster.

For those who think it’s too late to learn how to ride a bike, we have another good news: Tolstoy learned to ride a bike at the age of 67.

Have great days cycling!
