Epoxy resin, a strong type of adhesive that has become popular recently, has a wide range of uses. It can be used in many areas, from coaster to bookmark, from flooring to table covering, and in making elegant jewelry such as earrings, rings, and necklaces.
Here’s how to make a bookmark using this technique: First, choose the silicone mold you will use and place it on a flat surface. Optionally, you can add things like flowers and leaves inside. After weighing the required amount of epoxy and hardener, mix them slowly. The important thing here is to mix it patiently without making bubbles and to produce a homogeneous mixture. If desired, you can add materials such as paint and glitter. Then pour the mixture slowly into the mold. Flowers or leaves with lower density will move towards the surface. Therefore, we recommend that you pour the epoxy in two stages; otherwise, the material used may not be completely covered with epoxy, and unsightly protrusions may be visible on top. After the first layer is poured, wait about 10 hours before pouring the second layer of epoxy. You need to wait at least 24 hours to remove it from the mold.
When working with epoxy, it is mandatory to wear gloves, a respirator, and goggles. The environment used should be different from the areas where we spend our daily lives, and it should be constantly ventilated. Children should be kept away from the work area.
