The Helplessness of Evolution in the Face of Life’s Grandeur

Hayatın İhtişamı Karşısında Evrimin Acizliği (The Helplessness of Evolution in the Face of Life’s Grandeur), a Turkish book written by Professor İrfan Yılmaz, Editor-in-Chief of Çağlayan magazine, offers scientific and persuasive answers, especially for young people who have questions on evolution.

Yılmaz shares over 40 years of his research and findings, and explains how he prepared the book: “While my faith increased in the face of the magnificent beauty I saw as manifestations of God’s Names in the biological world, I tried to produce answers with the data of reason and science against an imaginary person who would see the same beings and say, ‘They are randomly and aimlessly reproducing beings without purpose or wisdom.’ I wrote it in the hope that my own past experiences might help germinate some truths in the minds of curious young people who might experience them more severely at this age.”

The book’s introductory note states:

“The need for such a book is greater now than ever. Whenever the topic of evolution comes up, many scientists and educators give the impression that all the fundamental debates about the origin of life ended long ago, suggesting that evolution has been proven. However, over 1200 scientists are expressing objections to Darwinism in a statement open for signatures.

Statements on the website “Dissent from Darwin”, signed by scientists, show that the matter is never as evolutionists claim: ‘We are skeptical of claims regarding the adequacy of natural selection and random mutation mechanisms to explain life’s complexity. A careful examination of the evidence for Darwin’s theory should be encouraged.’

I hope that in Turkey, too, scientists will come forward with courage and engage in civilized discussions with academic honesty and democratic respect, without condemning anyone with ideological accusations.”

Indeed, it would be valuable for the book Hayatın İhtişamı Karşısında Evrimin Acizliği (The Helplessness of Evolution in the Face of Life’s Grandeur), to reach a broader audience through an English translation. Its scientific insights and persuasive arguments could offer a helpful perspective, particularly for those exploring the topic of evolution and life’s origins. If translated, it could significantly contribute to the global conversation on science, belief, and the interplay between them. Let’s hope for an English version in the near future.
